Laurie Ann Schillinger is a professional Film Composer with sixteen years of experience in the music industry.
Born in Thousand Oaks, California, Laurie began her career at the age of four as a session singer for motion picture and television productions. One of her first jobs, appearing and singing on the movie "Love Affair" with Warren Beatty and Annette Bening, earned her attention from major vocal contractors and her voice began to spread in the industry as she continued to perform as a background singer for movies such as "Harry Potter: Prizoner of Azkaban," "Prince of Egypt," "Tarzan," "Amistad," "The Preacher's Wife," "The Patriot," and "The Mexican." In 1996, Laurie did backup singing for Barbra Streisand at a convention for President Clinton. Laurie has also worked with artists such as Usher and Pink, and has also done Voice over work for "South Park," "The Simpsons," and "A Bug's Life."
At the age of seven, Laurie began study as a classical pianist and in 2004 she was accepted to Idyllwild Arts School of Music where she studied composition, ear training and counterpoint with Denis Segund of the Paris Conservatory of Music.
In 2006 Laurie earned the "WST Scholarship" from Berklee College of Music for study as a film composer. Soon after, Laurie began to collaborate with Director Costa Mantis in October of 2007 for his upcoming documentary film "Punkin Chuckin". In 2008, Laurie met Director Katie Shannon and agreed to do music for her upcoming short film "Invisible" which won an AfterEllen.com award and landed a spot in their list of "Top 5 Best Short Films." Laurie continued working with Katie Shannon for her next film, "A Square with Three Sides" which has recently been released June 2009.
Also in 2008, Laurie was selected to score music for Paracelsus Films' new mini-series "Project Nephilim". The mini series aires bi-monthly on the web and is predicting an upcoming Soundtrack CD release.
In spring of 2009 Laurie was awarded the Georges-Delerue Memorial Scholarship from the Film Scoring Faculty at Berklee College of Music. One of the only film scoring scholarships offered at Berklee, this prestigious award has been given to only a couple of students each year. Laurie will be graduating from Berklee in August with a Bachelor's Degree in Music for Film Scoring only three years after starting the degree, one year earlier than the curriculum is designed to expect.
In August 2009 Laurie will be heading to Los Angeles to work as a Film Composer, and will continue to work professionally as a session singer.
